How it all began
John and Mark Mahon began woodworking as teenagers - in fact, John went to a private high school, where he earned part of his tuition in the woodshop. Desire and persistance led to an eventual apprenticeship under the watchful eyes of renowned conservators in the Washington D.C. area, working on some of our nations finest antiques.
Although the appeal of conserving pieces for auction houses, collectors, foreign embassies, museums, and even the White House was high, family ties and the midwestern lifestyle brought them back. Mahon Antique Restoration was started in Madison,Wisconsin in 1986, and it is still located at the original location at 901 Watson Avenue.
